About About ONEPOINT Report…

Dear Readers, Another successful and busy year is coming to an end and we are already curious about what’s next in 2020.

As you know from our previous Report, we are currently finalizing ONEPOINT Projects 19 and we can now give more guidance on our release timeline. Additionally, we want to give a first glimpse on our new collaborative planning approach for agile projects.

Talking about plans for the New Year – we will again be sponsoring a number of conferences in Europe and the US. One of our highlights will be our own ONEPOINT Connect user meeting in April 2020 in Munich. We hope to see many of you at one or the other event.

This said, I wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Best Regards,

Gerald Aquila, Founder & CEO

Release Timeline

As we know that some of you are already eagerly waiting for release 19 — especially for our new, integrated agile planning & controlling component, we want to inform you that we needed to postpone the release to early next year. In mid-January we should have a better grasp on the stability of the latest changes and thus, for a target release date.

Preview: Collaborative agile planning

The main reason for the delay is that we have made the decision to abandon our usual edit & check-in-based planning cycle for agile projects, and to allow concurrent editing on agile projects. Although we have been aware that this might have a significant impact on our release schedule, we are convinced that this has been the right decision, as agile planning feels much more “natural” and dynamic with the new collaborative planning workflow.

collaborative agile planning

This new collaborative approach will initially be available for agile projects only and means that you are always in edit mode (no need to press the “Edit” button). There is also no working copy, so all changes you make are instantly visible to other users (no need for a “Check-In” button). There is still the ability to historize your current plan by pressing the new “Snapshot” button in order to create a plan version. When submitting a status report, a version will be snapshotted automatically.

We are already eager to get your feedback on both this new way of planning and the new upcoming agile features – so stay tuned for the next Report when releasing ONEPOINT Projects 19!

Conferences in 2020

In 2020 we will again sponsor several conferences in Europe and the US, including:

Last but not least, we are currently organizing our annual ONEPOINT Connect user meeting which will take place in Munich at the Hilton Munich Airport from April 22 to 23. We have already sent out the initial invitations – a more detailed agenda will follow early next year. We are already looking forward to it. Save the date in your calendar and register today! :-)
