Dear Readers!

The Q2 Onepoint Report is already overdue - the major reason for this is simple: It has been a very busy quarter for us at Onepoint:

  • First of all the Onepoint team got "reinforcements": Michael Brand joined very recently as our new Vice President Sales. Michael is an experienced sales executive who held management positions at large companies such as Oracle, Unisys and Sequent
  • Our internal technical team was strengthened as well: Dietmar Mesaric joined as Support Engineer and Peter W. Gstettner as one of our new lead developers
  • We finally launched the multiply requested single-user versions of Onepoint Project (Basic und Professional editions)
  • We managed to sign on a very interesting new reference customer: ecofinance, one of the most important Austrian software companies
  • We joined the Open Solutions Alliance as the first German-speaking company and were able to get a lot more visibility in the US market
  • We secured a 2nd round of financing quintupling our equity capital for further development and expansion
  • Last, but not least our Sourceforge downloads went up to 18,500+ since we went Open Source and we had our best ranking just two weeks ago at position 167 of 150,000+ projects

By the way, you will be "seeing" a lot of Onepoint in Central Europe in the coming months: We will be at the I-KNOW conference in Graz in early September, at the DMS Expo (with our new partner icomedias) in Cologne in late September, at the Systems tradeshow (again together with IBM) in Munich in October and - very important - we will be sponsoring and hosting two boardroom sessions at Gartner's Project and Portfolio Management Summit in Prague in early December.

I am looking forward to meeting many of you at one of our tradeshow booths or in one of the boardroom sessions at the PPM event in Prague!

Best regards,

Gerald Mesaric, CEO

Onepoint Project 07 Basic/Professional Edition

We are happy to announce the availability of the Basic and Professional editions of Onepoint Project 07:

  • The Basic Edition features the same functionality as the Open Edition, but resembles a "plug & play" single-user desktop application with an integrated zero-administration database. It is targeted at the "rookie" project manager - a tool which is quickly understood and easy to handle
  • The Professional Edition builds on the practical usability of the Basic Edition and extends it with advanced Team Edition-functionality such as an interactive work breakdown structure (WBS), drill-down functionality for the ad hoc plan-actual comparisons, a milestone trend analysis and ur already popular project pipeline
The Basic Edition can be downloaded for free from Sourceforge. The Professional Edition can be ordered by e-mailing us at for EUR 499 excluding VAT.

Open Source

Open Solution Alliance

We joined the Open Solution Alliance as the first German-speaking independent software vendor (ISV) in April. The OSA is a vendor-neutral non-profit organization focusing on integration and best practices around open source business applications - or in the words of the OSA:

"The Open Solutions Alliance consists of leading companies dedicated to making enterprise-class open software solutions work together. We help customers put open solutions to work by enabling application integration, certifying quality solutions, and promoting cooperation among open solutions developers. Membership is open to organizations that provide high-quality, business-ready open solutions."

We already got a lot more attention from potential partners and customers in the US and Canada since joining the OSA. It is also both very interesting and fun to work with the other vendors in the OSA which include well-known Open Source companies such as Sourceforge, JasperSoft, CerntricCRM, Talend, as well as Unisys.

I recently met Ross Turk of Sourceforge at LinuxTag in Berlin and I am already looking forward to meet with all the other guys in person at LinuxWorld from August 6 to 8 in San Francisco.
