onepoint PROJECTS 14 Completes Standards-based Project Management
New release features change request management, ultra-light workflows, and an integration with Slack.
onepoint PROJECTS, the leading provider of integrated project and portfolio management (PPM) software, has released version 14 of its web-based enterprise solution. By adding change request management and ultra-light workflows the new version completes support for leading project management standards such as PMBoK/PMI, IPMA, and PRINCE2. Additionally, onepoint enables real-time project communication through a new integration with Slack, the fastest-growing business communication tool. Across industries onepoint PROJECTS is known as one of the most easy-to-use “real” PPM solutions.
Change Request Management & Ultra-light Workflows
By providing integrated support for project change requests onepoint strives to replace yet another Excel spreadsheet and to further improve transparency in standards-based project management. Pending and approved change requests are listed in a new “History” tab that replaces the previous “Versions” tab in onepoint PROJECTS and also shows the project plan version history.
Approval of change requests is one of the applications of onepoint’s new ultra-light workflows. Other available approval requests include project decision, pipeline stage changes, project closure, and resource requests. All workflows are integrated with onepoint’s activity stream and also feature optional email notifications.
“We wanted to reduce time to action without adding additional complexity by providing what we call ‘ultra-light’ workflows,“ said Gerald Aquila, founder & CEO of onepoint. “In contrast to more traditional approaches, our workflows are really lightweight approval requests that are only started when a user does not have sufficient permissions in order to do something in onepoint directly. In this way, the system stays very dynamic.”
Real-Time Team Communication via Slack
To enable real-time project team communication, onepoint now provides a new integration with Slack, the fastest-growing real-time business communication tool. Project team members can create to-dos and ad hoc activities directly from within a Slack conversation. In addition, projects can be linked to Slack “channels”, meaning that all project activity stream events will get automatically pushed to the respective channel.
Other improvements of onepoint PROJECTS 14 include the ability for all project contributors to create new to-dos within projects (which was only possible for project managers in prior versions) and the ability to edit multiple activities at once during project planning. Additionally, a global search for projects, portfolios and project templates has been added. The new version also features a number of performance and scalability enhancements for onepoint’s unique bidirectional integration with Atlassian’s JIRA.
onepoint PROJECTS 14 Group Server is available at no charge for up to 4 users.
