onepoint PROJECTS, the leading provider of integrated project and portfolio management (PPM) solutions, has released its new iPhone App “onepoint ME” via Apple’s iTunes App Store. The new mobile app provides a truly ubiquitous work environment for project contributors by providing efficient access to todos, activities, time tracking and recent events across projects. The app also features extensive offline functionality whenever users do not have Internet access.
Todos across all projects can be viewed, created, edited and closed. Contributors can also easily access their assigned project activities and milestones. In addition, new ad hoc activities and milestones can be created directly from within the app, even if the user is currently offline. The same is true for tracking time, or completing missing times at the end of a workday, project contributors can really work on projects anywhere and anytime.
“We really wanted to develop a practical and very user-oriented app. Additionally, since time tracking is typically not the most popular activity throughout project organizations, we thought we could make it both easier and more ‘fun’ by supporting it via a gesture, instead of typing in numbers – especially if you think small, mobile devices,” said Gerald Aquila, CEO and founder of onepoint.
The new app also plays nicely with two of onepoint PROJECTS more recent features: the project activity stream and the agenda functionality introduced earlier this year. A user-oriented stream feature aggregates all streams across projects, but you can still also apply a filter to only show the stream of a single project. This makes it very easy for project contributors to stay on top of things – both across projects and for a specific project. As todos can also originate from a meeting agenda, contributors get their action items directly into their mobile todo list and can instantly work on them. In addition, todos, activities, and tracked time can of course also be filtered on a project basis.
Even though fast Internet connectivity is a given in many parts of the world, there are still a lot of places where mobile reception is limited, or getting online is simply not possible at all. For these cases, onepoint ME provides an automatic offline mode that stores all changes locally until the user gets online the next time. Syncing is totally transparent for the user and happens in the background.
onepoint ME is now available for free in the iTunes App Store and only a user account for onepoint PROJECTS Enterprise Server or Cloud is required.
