onepoint Launches Next Generation Project and Resource Management for JIRA

New release delivers two-way JIRA integration featuring explicit project and resource planning.

onepoint PROJECTS, the leading provider of integrated project and portfolio management (PPM) software, has released its next generation two-way JIRA integration with its latest release 12.1. As an industry first, onepoint enables project managers to create, manage, and control complex project plans while executing the project in JIRA. In addition, line managers benefit from improved resource planning that until now has not been possible with JIRA. Across industries onepoint PROJECTS is known as one of the most easy-to-use "real", fully web-based PPM solutions. Its solid feature set ranges from single and multi-project management to extensive portfolio and resource management functions.

Project Planning, Monitoring and Controlling for JIRA

While earlier onepoint versions already allowed to mirror and aggregate JIRA projects, onepoint PROJECTS 12.1 provides project managers with the means to create a complex project plan in onepoint, but execute it in JIRA. This has many advantages, e.g., project managers can use elements such as milestones and risks for project planning that are not available in JIRA. Developers and other IT personnel can still work completely in JIRA and do not have to learn another tool. All progress information entered in JIRA is automatically transferred back to onepoint PROJECTS in real-time. Ad hoc tasks, issues, comments, and attachments are synced in bidirectionally making them almost instantly available in both systems.

Portfolio and Resource Management On Top of JIRA

Since onepoint PROJECTS includes a full-featured resource management system, the new JIRA integration also introduces visual resource planning and demand management for JIRA projects and versions. Project managers can even do high-level team-based resource planning, using the default user assignment rules configured in JIRA. In addition, JIRA-executed projects are seamlessly integrated with onepoint's multi-project and portfolio management capabilities including the recently launched Portfolio Analysis Option (PAO) for project evaluation and prioritization.

"Already about a third of our customer base is using JIRA in their IT organizations", said Gerald Aquila, founder & CEO of onepoint PROJECTS. "The new integration leverages the full strength of both products by allowing project and line managers, as well as IT personnel to work in the environment that fits their needs best without entering any information twice. Successfully integrating agile and portfolio management has never been easier."

onepoint PROJECTS 12.1 Enterprise Server is available as a free 30 day trial from www.onepoint-projects.com as of today.
